About the Doctor
Andrea Botar DDS
COSMETIC and IMPLANT DENTISTRY
Associate Fellow- American Academy of Implant Dentistry
Diplomate- American Board of Oral Implantology/AAID
I became interested in dentistry at a very young age and resolved that someday I would become a dentist and establish a patient-centered practice. I was committed to the science and craft of dentistry even before entering dental school, and started my career in a dental laboratory where I trained bench-side as a dental laboratory apprentice/craftsperson. This experience helped me to develop an appreciation for the importance of artistry in dentistry, particularly implant dentistry, and I was also able to hone important skills such as manual dexterity and precision.
In 1987, I was accepted to New York University School of Dentistry’s 7-year dental program, an advanced placement program for young aspiring dentists. I was equally focused on my education and, as a result of my hard work, received prestigious recognition for my academic achievements, including:
- Graduating cum laude and being recognized as one of the Dean’s List Top 10% when I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree;
- Recognition as an Omicron Kappa Honor Society member;
- The Women’s Association Award; and
The Harry Gersten Prosthodontic Award.
My dental education did not stop at my graduation. I have spent the past ___ years accumulating a wealth of knowledge and experience practicing clinical dentistry. Earlier on in my career, I also taught at New York University as an assistant Clinical Professor and worked as a course director and professor at Semmelweis University in Budapest Hungary, overseeing comprehensive implantology training programs. Further, I have previously taught multiple continuing education courses and lectured internationally to dentists wanting to learn more about implantology.
Implantology has been one of my primary focuses throughout my career, and I have made an effort to stay current on changing procedures and tools in order to ensure my patients receive state-of-the-art treatment, with superior results and comfort. My patients are very important to me, and I have made a point to learn these skills so that I can provide these services in-house in an environment that my patients are already comfortable in, rather than referring them out.
What is a “Dental Spa”?
After years of practicing and working in the dental field, I am sensitive to the fact that the thought of having a dental procedure done makes many patients anxious—particularly if it is their first time. I named my practice Platinum Dental Spa to communicate that my number one priority is ensuring that my patients have a positive dental experience, in a relaxing, calm environment.
At Platinum Dental Spa, our philosophy is that patients deserve the best treatment possible and that going to the dentist shouldn’t be something to fear or dread. I work with each patient one on one to learn their goals for treatment and see to their dental needs in a gentle, sensitive manner. We take time to listen to our patients, explain procedures, and use the most advanced techniques to provide to most gentle treatment possible.
In addition to offering general dentistry services, we also utilize cosmetic dentistry and implantology to restore patients’ youthful appearance, confidence, and self-esteem. Once a treatment plan has been selected, I then take care to ensure that each patient is comfortable before, during, and after each procedure.
